Help the clearest voices rise.
JaLingo’s voice community exists for one purpose: give learners short, natural, well-described Jamaican pronunciation from people who speak it.
Contribute honestly
Be at least 18. Record only your voice, in a quiet place, reading the phrase shown. Choose a region or connection honestly, including “prefer not to say.” Regional and diaspora variation is welcome; caricature is not.
Validate the clip, not the person
Rate whether the recording is clear, natural, and faithful to the requested phrase. Do not reward a friend, punish a variation you simply do not use, or treat one parish as the only legitimate Jamaican voice.
Never submit
No threats, harassment, hate, sexual content, private conversations, identifying information, music, advertising, impersonation, synthetic cloning of another person, or material you do not have the right to release.
Safety controls
Use Report for a problematic clip and Block contributor when you do not want to encounter that person’s recordings. A report holds the clip immediately. Moderators can restore, approve, or remove it. Repeated manipulation or abuse may close the account.
How a voice reaches a lesson
A recording starts pending. It needs at least three independent reviews, an average score of four out of five, and moderator review before publication. JaLingo applies a prior-weighted score so a single five-star vote cannot outrank a consistently strong clip. If later ratings fall or a report arrives, the system reconsiders or holds it.
